I am a copyeditor and proofreader with more than two decades of experience. In 2005, I left my 9-to-5 job to start my own editorial services business. Before becoming a full-time freelancer, I worked as a writer, editor, and education coordinator for the Great Lakes Theater Festival in Cleveland; as a marketing copywriter for Harris InfoSource in Twinsburg, Ohio; and as a writer and editor at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland.
I support publishers, authors, nonprofit organizations, think tanks, and professional associations by providing top-notch copyediting and proofreading services, with a focus on scholarly nonfiction, academic journals, research reports and white papers, textbooks, and reference works. My areas of specialty include the social sciences, political science, public administration, business and economics, health care administration, history, gender studies, and humanities—although I am open to work in any field. I am well versed in a variety of styles, including Chicago Manual, APA, MLA, and AP styles.
A list of projects I have worked on can be found here.
My academic background is in English literature. I have a bachelor’s degree in English from Hiram College in Ohio and a master’s degree in literature from Case Western Reserve University. I am a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association and ACES: The Society for Editing.
I live and work in beautiful Rhode Island. When I’m not editing, I enjoy reading (on paper rather than on-screen!), hiking, attending theater performances and cultural events, watching British mysteries, and snuggling with my editorial assistant (pictured above).
